Enel São Paulo has awarded the largest tendered lot of MT-BT Project Preparation to the NIP-IM3 consortium

21/09/2020

With this contract for the largest electricity distributor in Latin America, IM3 positions itself in the economic centre of Brazil.

In July 2020, the NIP-IM3 consortium was informed of the result of the tender for MT-BT Projects Preparation, in which it won the largest of the two lots, Lot 2 (50% of the volume of aerial projects and 100% of the underground projects) of Enel São Paulo.

Including this award, this is the third three-year framework contract that Enel Brasil has awarded to im3 in a consortium with NIP, after the awards of the MT-BT Project Preparation Lot 2 for Enel Goiás in 2018, and the MT-BT Project Preparation Lot North for Enel Ceará in 2019, confirming Enel Brasil’s confidence in this joint venture.

Eletropaulo, known for being the largest electricity distribution company in South America, was bought in 2018 by the Italian group Enel, and became Enel Distribución Sãoo Paulo. It is present in 24 cities in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region, including the capital, Brazil’s main economic and financial centre. Its concession area, which totals 4,526 km2, concentrates the largest national GDP and the highest population density in the country, with 18 million people, corresponding to 9% of Brazil’s total, and approximately the same inhabitants as the entire countries of Chile or Ecuador.

Enel highly valued the services that the consortium is providing to the group’s other electricity distributors in the country as well as the technical offer, which passed the process without comments, having incorporated the best methodologies and tools for the development of aerial and underground projects in urban areas. In this tender, both lots are for the entire distribution area, with no geographical division.
