Im3 develops an iPad solution to allow logging of maintenance tasks in the field

In December 2016 the Rubatec-Urbalux consortium was awarded the contract to maintain the street lighting in the city of Barcelona in lot 2 zone B, made up of the Les Corts, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Gràcia and Horta-Guinardó districts.

Managing public street lighting in this part of Barcelona involved maintenance of 45,661 light sources and over 1,000 boxes. Total power installed in these boxes is 5,392 kW. This service includes preventive and corrective maintenance and modifications to the operation and management of the infrastructures.

Mobility was an essential point in this project. This is why im3 developed an iPad app to log maintenance work in the field, making work in the office easier. The solution consists of several modules covering inventory, incident management, maintenance tasks and planning future jobs.

One of the most dynamic parts of the tool is a web lighting viewer that allows the user to situate themself and see the whole infrastructure in detail, with its power, the circuit to which it belongs, units and other technical data of use to operatives in the field, including for example whether the unit in question is anchored or not.

The web viewer also has a connection to the vehicle fleet to see the routes planned and the actual route followed by each vehicle.

To monitor this whole mass of data and to be able to report to the city council, custom reports were prepared, plus a control panel with the most significant indicators in order to offer the city a better service, reducing response times for the faults detected.
